Intraocular Lens Implants Detroit

A cataract is a cloudiness in the natural lens of the eye. During cataract surgery, the natural lens of the eye, along with the cloudiness caused by the cataract, is removed. A membrane is left behind to act as a pouch or pocket for an artificial lens implant. Each lens implant is carefully selected by Dr. William Goldstein in an effort to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses. To maximize the patient's freedom from glasses, Dr. Goldstein prefers to use the Crystalens or ReStor implants to provide full focus. Each of these implants have advantages and disadvantages, and a careful discussion of each patient's needs is essential in choosing the correct implant. Dr. Goldstein is known for his personal one-on-one care, and his careful evaluation of the details needed to help patients figure out which implant is best...for them!

Crystalens Advanced Technology Lenses

The Crystalens is the only FDA approved accomodating lens implant available in the United States (as of 2010). These implants have advantages and disadvantages, and a careful discussion of each patient's needs is essential in choosing the correct implant. Dr. Goldstein is known for his personal one-on-one care, and his careful evaluation of the details needed to help patients figure out which implant is best...for them!

ReStor Advanced Technology Lenses

The ReStor lens implant is a uniquely designed implant which gives a full range of focus using a 'multifocal' approach. These implants have their own unique advantages and disadvantages, and need to be discussed with Dr. Goldstein after careful examination in his office. Multifocal lens implants have built-in 'zones of power' which look like rings within the implant. Each ring is specially designed to provide a different pocal point, thereby giving patients a full range of focus without glasses, and without effort! In general, patients gain their full range of vision very rapidly; within a week or so. They may be bothered, especially in the early phases, by glare and halos. These are usually temporary, but can be permanant and disabling in patients especially where night driving is concerned.
