Dr. William Goldstein offers the advanced surgery at his Detroit and Michigan offices. To ensure proper cataract surgery recovery, you must be aware of what you are allowed to do and what you should not do. Here are a few tips on how to handle recovery after a cataract surgery, Detroit.

What to do in the first week

The first week after your cataract surgery, Detroit, it is generally recommended to keep your eyes covered (use sunglasses) to ensure that they are protected. You have to be careful because even a small amount of pressure can open the incision created in the eye during the surgery. Protecting the eye with glasses can prevent the complication.

Do not lift heavy weights. Any activity that can increase pressure on your eyes should be avoided. Do not splash your eyes with water directly, and refrain from using a hot tub, visiting a sauna or using a swimming pool in the first week after the surgery.

Use anti-inflammatory eye drops as prescribed by your doctor. You may have to use it for a month. If you have any pain (only if the pain is mild), you can use normal over-the-counter medications. If the pain is unmanageable, you will have to contact your doctor. It is advisable to wear an eye shield when you go to sleep for a week after the surgery. It will prevent you from rubbing or pressing your eye when you are asleep.

A few weeks later

Your old spectacles may not be suitable for you anymore after the surgery. It is because cataract surgery, Detroit can change the power of your eyes. The power will stabilize in a month and then you can go for new spectacles. There is no special diet that you have to follow after a cataract surgery. Note that the artificial lens inserted in your eye is designed to last for a lifetime. In case, your vision gets blurred or if there is any other vision/eye related complication, contact your doctor immediately.
