If you’ve worn either glasses or contacts for years on end, LASIK can really be a welcome alternative. However, it is often an expensive one. Read on to find out how you can get help with your LASIK surgery financing, or how you can pay for it in a way you can actually afford.

1) Health Insurance

The thing is, most health insurances claim that LASIK is an elective, cosmetic procedure. However, if you have an underlying condition that requires you to get LASIK, your insurance may help cover some of the costs. How do you do this? By looking through insurance plans carefully before buying one, and even looking at various eye insurance plans. While insurance is unlikely to help you redeem the full cost of the surgery, in some limited cases, it can help partially fund it. Be warned, however, that this can be an arduous process, and only a few people manage it.

2) Health Savings Account

Ask your banker or your employer about setting up a health savings account and start putting money away for LASIK surgery. With good interest plans and saving outcomes, this can help you consciously save your way towards a LASIK surgery. In addition, many of these plans provide ‘pre-tax’ dollars, which will save you money on your LASIK surgery financing

3) 3rd Party LASIK Surgery Financing

Banks and come private companies offer 3rd party financing for health treatments like LASIK, and this ends up being like a loan for your LASIK surgery. Like any other financing option, the company pays for your surgery and you end up making periodic payments with interest. On the whole, it is an affordable way of getting the surgery without having to save up for a long time. The only thing you need to be careful about is making sure that the practice you choose for your surgery is okay with the 3rd party financing you rustle up. Dr. Goldstein helps his patients use CareCredit for financing.

4) Use a credit card for LASIK Surgery Financing

This is not our favorite method of financing your LASIK surgery, but it is a doable one. Pick a card that gives you rewards for a purchase as large as this, and put nothing else on it while you’re still paying off your surgery. This way, you’ll keep yourself accountable and find the costs for LASIK manageable. This method will require you to research and apply for your credit card before your surgery, but is otherwise easy and simple.

Don’t let financing hold you back from getting LASIK. If you cannot pay out-of-pocket, then consider the aforementioned methods to pay for your surgery.
